PORT OF POOLE GAINS ENVIRONMENTAL ACCREDITATION

Port of Poole has received recognition for its environmental efforts by obtaining internationally recognised ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification.

ISO 14001 is a voluntary set of standards used by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) related to environmental management which aims to help organisations minimise how their operations negatively affect the environment, such as resource efficiency and waste reduction.

The endorsement follows a rigorous assessment carried out by URS Holdings recognising the Port’s environmental efforts.

Captain Brian Murphy, Chief Executive of Poole Harbour Commissioners, said: “We are very proud to have received this new accreditation, which was very much a team effort requiring open and transparent communication with the auditor. It demonstrates our commitment to sustainability which is one of our key strategic objectives as part of our Masterplan vision and will be one of our key focus areas for the years to come”.
