Passengers

Passenger Ferries

At Poole Harbour Commissioners, we act as a staging point for ferries travelling to and from mainland Europe and the Channel Islands. We have ferries departing daily to Cherbourg in France courtesy of Brittany Ferries and the Channel Islands courtesy of Condor Ferries.

Cherbourg, France

If you’re looking to travel to and from France, then Brittany Ferries will get you and your vehicle there quickly. Crossing time is just 4 hours and 15 minutes and this service runs all year long.

Channel Islands

Between the months of April and October, Condor Ferries will take you across the Channel Islands on their Fast Craft service. Crossing time to Jersey is 3 hours and just 2 hours and 40 minutes to Guernsey.

Extra Assistance

Passengers with Reduced Mobility Charter

Please ensure that you have advised your Ferry company that you require assistance at least 24hrs before departure. If this is not possible we will make best endeavours to assist you whilst travelling through the Port.

There are specialist vehicles available to transport passengers on foot to and from the ferries. We provide an extensive passenger car park located directly opposite the foot passenger hall at:

New Harbour Road South
Hamworthy
Poole
BH15 4AJ

If you require assistance from the carpark please either press one of the intercom buzzers located on one of the payment machines or Entry/Exit barriers. You can also call 012020 440220 and ask to speak to the duty foreman who will arrange assistance.

You’ll find luggage trolleys located here for your convenience. Other facilities include an overnight car and caravan parking area, café, toilet facilities, showers, chemical toilet disposal point and a facility for nursing mothers. The car park itself is a “Pay on Foot” system with all fees payable by cash, debit or credit card at the exit machines (please note the payment machines do not give change for cash payments). The fees are as follows:

  • Up to 1 Hour – £1.00
  • Up to 6 Hours – £8.00
  • Each period of 24 Hours – £15.00
  • Overnight Caravan and Campers – £15.00

Our car park is regularly patrolled at night by port security at random intervals to ensure that all vehicles are kept secure.

If you would like to inquire further about our RORO passenger facilities, call Poole Harbour Commissioners today on 01202 440220.
