PHC virtual open evening is a success

PHC virtual open evening is a success

To ensure the safety of their valued stakeholders and their team, this year Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC) hosted their Annual Open Evening, live via zoom for the first time.

164 people registered to attend the Trust Port’s first virtual event. Attendees included local Councillors from BCP Council, Harbour leisure users, port tenants and residents from the local community, as well as those from the wider maritime industry, who all tuned in to hear from PHC’s Chief Executive, Jim Stewart and Chairman, Bob Cripps.

During the meeting, a video review of the year, created by the PHC team was shown. The 30-minute film shared updates from across the Port’s wide-ranging departments and discussed key topics including, the impact of COVID and Brexit. Before highlighting PHC’s plans for the future.

Attendees were invited to pre-submit questions and comments ahead of the meeting, with many questions answered on the night.

FEEDBACK IS INVALUABLE

Jim Stewart, CEO, Poole Harbour Commissioners said: “My thanks to everyone that took the time to submit questions and feedback. Input from our local community is invaluable to us, so we were determined to keep our Q&A session, which has proved popular at past events, on the agenda.”

One stakeholder commented: “As a regular attendee of PHC’s Open Evenings, I was interested to see how the virtual event would pan out. I was impressed with the quality of the visual information presented. The whole event was all very well thought out and well put together. Well done to PHC on a very informative evening and the team at the Port for keeping it going during these difficult times.”

Jim added: “Although it was disappointing not to be able to meet with our stakeholders in person once again this year, it was encouraging to see so many of our valued stakeholders at our first virtual Open Evening.

I hope all of our attendees found the evening insightful. We look forward to continued collaboration with all of our stakeholders in the future, whether virtually or otherwise.”
