13 May THE PORT OF POOLE WELCOMES SEABOURN VENTURE FOR HER INAUGURAL VISIT
The Port of Poole welcomed the inaugural call from Seabourn Cruise Lines’ Seabourn Venture on Friday 10 May.
The traditional plaque exchange took place onboard with Captain Sasha Skladnoi, and Poole Harbour Commissioners’ Harbour Master Harry Gregory, Chairman Lee Hardy, Chief Financial Officer, Steve Wisdom, Port Manager, Steve Moors and Strategic Projects Manager Rosie Macnamara.
On this beautiful sunny day, the cruise guests enjoyed discovering the local area with excursions to Brownsea Island, Minterne House & Gardens and the New Forest amongst other places.
The 170m long ultra-luxury expedition ship was launched in July 2022 and can take 264 passengers. The ship has 24 Zodiac RIBs and two submarines onboard.
The Bournemouth Youth Marching Band, who received the Kings Award for Voluntary Service last year, gave them a farewell as the ship set sail for Dover.
Harry Gregory, Harbour Master, said : “We were delighted to welcome Seabourn Venture to the Port of Poole for her inaugural visit. Poole is the perfect boutique cruise destination for expedition ships such as this one. Our Harbour is the largest natural harbour in Europe and there is plenty to do for cruise guests in the vicinity. We hope that the guests and crew had a great time and we hope to welcome her back again in the future”.
