Events

Every year Poole Harbour is home to some of the very best local events, attracting visitors from around the globe. Here are some of the biggest and best that you can look forward to every year.

The Poole Harbour Boat Show

Since it first began in 2015, the Poole Harbour Boat Show has become one of the most successful annual events in the town. Thanks to its continued success we’re delighted to announce that the sixth Poole Harbour Boat Show will be back for 2020 from its award-winning home, Poole Quay Boat Haven.

With over 30,000 people in attendance in during 2017, 2018 and 2019, the show continues to be the biggest-ever free to attend boat show on the South Coast.

Running from the 12th – 14th June 2020, the three-day extravaganza will bring together a spectacular showcase of yachts and motor cruisers, marine equipment, water sports gear and clothing, with taster sessions, live music and fireworks to keep the whole family entertained!

The Bath Tub Race

A firm favourite in the event calendar is the Bath Tube Race that occurs on New Year’s Day. This charity focussed event involves crews crafting unique bathtub vessels and racing them along the quay from The Customs House Steps to the Lord Nelson. Every year, rain or shine, crowds turn up in their hundreds to cheer on the crews as they race to raise money for a good cause.

This whacky event is the perfect way to start the New Year as it is an event built on goodwill that isn’t afraid to have a bit of fun. We’ve had some incredibly unique bathtubs grace our waters over the years with the amateur crews showing off their creativity. A fun day out for anyone, the annual Bath Tub Race is an event that you can’t afford to miss!

Poole Regatta

Be sure to put down 23-25 May 2020 in your diaries as the International Paint Poole Regatta returns next year for three days of racing and social events on the Dorset coast.

Sailing regattas have taken place in the sea around Poole and within Poole Harbour since 1849 and the 2020 Poole Regatta will continue the tradition.

Poole Regatta is organised by the seven yacht clubs located within the harbour, alongside Poole Yacht Racing Association, to provide outstanding racing for serious amateur and professional sailors, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The regatta has become equally renowned for its onshore social events where crews can relax after hard days of racing with other likeminded individuals.

With racing across five courses both inside the harbour and outside in Poole Bay, there are opportunities for all sailing classes to compete.
