The Jurassic Coast

The Jurassic Coast

The Jurassic Coast, a 95 mile-long stretch of stunning coastline on the South Coast, is England’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site internationally-known for its geographical formations and well-preserved fossils.

One of the most famous representations of the Jurassic Coast is Durdle Door, a magnificent natural limestone arch which was formed when the power of the waves eroded the rock and forged a hole through the middle.

A popular walk is from Durdle Door to Lulworth Cove, which was formed by the combined forces of the sea and a river swollen by melting ice of the last Ice Age. It is a relatively easy 30minute walk and is a fantastic way to enjoy spectacular coastal views.

For anyone fancying a bit of adventure with stunning landscape in the background, the Jurassic Coast is the perfect backdrop for sea kayaking, Zodiac tours or boat tours.
