27 Aug FINAL SAILING OF MN PELICAN FROM POOLE

On 20 August, the Port of Poole bid farewell to MN Pelican on her final daytime sailing to Bilbao, marking the end of a service that has brought several hundred calls since 2016. As she cleared Bar Buoy, VTS acknowledged her service over VHF, and they received a farewell from the chain ferry.
The recent launch of the Bayonne–Cherbourg intermodal rail freight link enables unaccompanied trailers to be moved directly to Cherbourg for onward shipment by ferry, positioning Poole as Brittany Ferries’ UK hub for this traffic.
Looking ahead, Brittany Ferries recently announced the reinstatement of a daily passenger and freight winter service between Poole and Cherbourg from December 2025 to March 2026 ensuring continued regular freight and passenger links to France.
Harry Gregory, Harbour Master at Poole Harbour Commissioners, said: “We extend our very best wishes to MN Pelican and her crew as they embark on their next chapter. Their service has been greatly valued here in Poole.”
