SAFETY
Safety in the harbour and within the port
remains the Commissioners'
highest priority, and a new Assistant Health & Safety Officer
was appointed in January 2005. The Organisation continues
to adhere to the requirements of the Port Marine Safety Code and the Poole Marine Safety Management
which is based on the concepts of risk
assessment and accountability. Continual review plays a
major role in Poole Harbour Commissioners' goal of increasing
safety standards in Poole
The Health, Safety and Environmental
Committee of Poole Harbour Commissioners meets regularly and the
Commissioners play an active role within Port Skills and Safety
Ltd. The Commissioners review Health and Safety at the
monthly board meetings and continue to invest in training
throughout the work force.
SECURITY
The Commissioners continue to adhere and
to comply with the International Ship and Port Facilities
Code (ISPS) and port security continues to play an increasingly
important role within Poole Harbour Commissioners.
EMPLOYEES
The average number of staff employed
during the year was 157.
DONATIONS
Charitable donations amounted to
£7,699 for the year.
CONCLUSION
The Commissioners retain their full
commitment to maintaining a modern
and efficient Trust Port and will continue to fulfil
their statutory duties relating to the
conservation, regulation and improvement of the
port and harbour of Poole. My
colleagues on the board join me in thanking all of the staff of
Poole Harbour Commissioners for their commitment and hard work
during this financial year.
