Poole Town Quay is a popular stopover berth for yachts visiting the harbour and for short stay visits by local boats. Subject to the availability of berthing space, recreational craft are welcome to berth at Town Quay. However, please note that it can be very busy at weekend and craft are often berthed up to seven abreast in some positions.

  • If your vessel is over 40 ft. long, contact Poole Harbour C (VHF Channel 14) prior to entering the Little Channel to ensure that a suitable berth is available. Approaching the Town Quay you must comply with the direction of berthing staff or notices displayed.

  • After securing, notify berthing staff of your arrival and intended duration of stay and pay the berthing charges and harbour dues as specified on the current schedule of charges. The first two hours in any period of 24 hours are free of quay berth charges.

  • If you are berthing alongside another craft, try to secure outboard a craft of similar dimensions and type.

  • Do not obstruct public landing steps.

  • Always manoeuvre under power in the vicinity of the Town Quay.

  • Inboard vessels must permit other craft of suitable size and type to berth alongside them.

  • Do not leave a craft unattended at any time. Sufficient crew must be available to move the vessel if required.

  • Dinghies should be hoisted inboard after use. Davits and booms should be swung inside the line of the ship’s side.

  • Pay particular attention to fendering. The Quay is very exposed in east and southeast wind conditions. The wash from passing vessels can cause uncomfortable disturbance to vessels berthed alongside.

  • Refuse must be placed in the bins provided on the quayside.

  • Vessels are berthed entirely at their owner’s/crew’s risk.
